Integral Eye Movement Technique

A Focused Way to Explore Emotional Patterns

IEMT combines guided eye movements with carefully sequenced questions to explore how an experience is held in emotion, imagery, body sensation, and sense of self. Meredith is a Certified IEMT Practitioner and may weave this structured technique into your personalized hypnotherapy care when it fits your goals.

What Is IEMT?

Integral Eye Movement Technique is a structured approach that uses guided eye movements and focused questions. The work pays attention to how a memory or pattern shows up for you, rather than asking you to repeatedly recount every detail.

You remain awake and in control. Meredith guides the process, checks in with you, and adapts the pace to your comfort. IEMT is one part of her wider approach, not a method that has to be used in every session.

IEMT May Be Explored Around:

  • A memory that still brings a strong emotional response
  • A recurring feeling or reaction that seems hard to shift
  • A self-belief or identity pattern that feels stuck
  • The way an experience appears in emotion, imagery, or body sensation

How Is IEMT Different from EMDR?

Like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) uses guided eye movements to help individuals process distressing memories, emotions, and the associations connected to them.

One of the distinguishing features of IEMT is its gentle, content-free approach. Unlike traditional approaches that may involve more structured engagement with traumatic memories, IEMT does not require clients to recount, describe, or verbally process their experiences.

Your internal experience remains your own. Your thoughts, memories, and emotions can remain private throughout the process. You are always welcome to share what comes up, but there is no expectation or requirement to disclose personal details.

This approach can help minimize unnecessary emotional distress while allowing clients to explore and shift their emotional responses in a supportive, client-led environment.

How We Work Together

The process is collaborative and guided by your comfort. You do not need to know exactly what to expect before you begin.

Choose a clear focus

You and Meredith identify the memory, feeling, or pattern you want to explore. You decide what feels relevant to share and can pause at any time.

Follow guided eye movements

Meredith guides a sequence of eye movements and focused questions. You stay awake, aware, and involved throughout the process.

Notice your experience

Together, you pay attention to changes in emotion, imagery, body sensation, or the way you experience yourself in relation to the focus.

Reflect and integrate

You take time to reflect on what you notice. When it fits your goals, IEMT can sit alongside hypnotherapy and other methods in your personalized care.

Your Pace and Comfort Come First

IEMT is not the right fit for every person or every concern. During a free consultation, you can talk with Meredith about what you hope to address and decide together whether this approach belongs in your care.

IEMT Within Personalized Hypnotherapy

As a Certified IEMT Practitioner, Meredith can draw on this structured technique alongside hypnotherapy and other methods. The approach depends on your goals, your preferences, and what feels appropriate for you.

There is no need to decide in advance. A conversation can help clarify what IEMT involves and whether it is a good match for the work you want to do.
